UNICEF brings supplies, mayor to town besieged by ISIS

UNICEF just delivered 45 metric tons of life-saving aid to the Iraqi town of Amirli. A seven truck convoy of supplies arrived to the town following a two-month siege by the ISIS terrorist army.

UNICEF feeding Iraqis who escaped Mount Sinjar

UNICEF, the UN children’s agency, is providing life-saving aid to Iraqis who have escaped from Mount Sinjar. Iraqis who are members of the Yazidi religion have been trapped on Sinjar after being displaced by conflict.

Starving Iraqis fleeing Mosul in scorching heat

After the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) assaulted and took over the city of Mosul, hundreds of thousands of residents fled the war zone. Grabbing what few belongings they could carry they were forced to set out in the scorching heat of Iraq. Many have arrived at the Kalak Transit Camp, between Mosul and the northern city of Erbil.

The UN World Food Programme (WFP) today said it’s providing emergency food aid to 250,000 people in Iraq. Conflict in Al-Anbar province between armed opposition groups and the government is displacing more and more Iraqis.
