YMCA and Walmart team up to fight child hunger

Last month I reported about the unique program the Cincinnati Public Library has by offering summer feeding for children at its locations. The YMCA is also coming through in the fight against child hunger. Food will be provided at more than 1,000 YMCA sites across the country this summer.

South Sudan war leaving children severely malnourished

The conflict in South Sudan has caused hunger and malnutrition rates to soar. Hundreds of thousands have fled the country in search of safety and food. The UN World Food Programme (WFP) says there are 2000 people a day arriving in Kenya, Uganda, Ethiopia and Sudan.

NBA star helping children in war-torn South Sudan

NBA star Loul Deng is coming to the rescue of children victimized by the war in South Sudan. Deng has teamed up with Save the Children, one of the charities providing aid in the war-torn country. South Sudan is the home country of Deng, who has played for the Chicago Bulls and Cleveland Cavaliers.

Thousands need food after floods in Afghanistan

Flash floods in Afghanistan have displaced thousands of people who need food aid. The UN World Food Programme (WFP) said yesterday it has distributed emergency rations to 1600 victims in Baghlan Province. Other areas have been impacted by floods as well.
