Severe nutrition crisis in Ulang, South Sudan

Towns in Upper Nile state of South Sudan are showing extremely high rates of malnutrition. The United Nations, in a report issued today, said an assessment in Ulang showed a global acute malnutrition rate of 45 percent. Malnutrition causes lasting physical and mental damage in small children.

Kenya: refugees malnourished, funding at risk

Over 43,000 victims of South Sudan‘s war have fled to Kenya, but hunger has followed them. A report from the UN World Food Programme (WFP) says that 24 percent of arriving child refugees under five were suffering from acute malnutrition.
