Syrian war refugees and Charity Miles

On Sunday, 60 Minutes did a feature on the UN World Food Programme (WFP) and their heroic efforts feeding Syrian war victims. The WFP depends on voluntary donations to feed the hungry in Syria and around the globe. They are currently appealing for donations, as they had to suspend food aid for Syrians because of low funds.

You can help feed children who have suffered from the war in Syria by donating to WFP and using the free app called Charity Miles

You can help WFP by donating and every time you walk, run or bike. All you have to do is download onto your smartphone a free app called Charity Miles. Then you select a charity, which WFP is one of 28 available, click start and off you go. Here is a video demonstrating Charity Miles.

So whether you are walking to work, or going for a training run, you could raise money for WFP. Every mile you get with Charity Miles is a meal for a hungry child. Corporate sponsors make the donations after you finish and upload your workout to twitter or facebook. It’s that easy.

WFP uses the Charity Miles donations for school feeding programs around the globe. There are 3 of these school feeding initiatives involved with the Syrian crisis.

School feeding is being provided to Syrian refugee children who have fled to Jordan. A similar school feeding program was operating in Syrian refugee camps in Iraq, but had to be suspended because of low funding.

Inside Syria, WFP has started school feeding for children in several areas and this program is reaching tens of thousands of children. Food distributed at school is an incentive to attend class.

So if you have your smartphone with you during the day or when you workout, get some Charity Miles. Help Syrian children and others around the globe who can benefit so much from a school meal.

These children have been through the trauma of war. They need food and they also need some type of normalcy in these refugee camps. School feeding is a good way to help them. Be their voice. To download the free app visit the Charity Miles web site.
